#22 Vigilance and Prayer

Lenten Writing Prompt #22
In the Bible's book of Amos, the prophet says that people may act ‘good’, but they blind themselves to the plight of others living in their midst.  How have you blinded yourself and how can you stay vigilant and prayerful for others?

  1. I wrote a song a few months ago that gets at how sometimes actions are prayers and prayers are actions, and teaching is learning, etc. It helps me think that when I am stuck - trying the opposite of what I need might be helpful.

When You Reach Out In Love You are Praying

When you reach out in Love, you are praying
When you serve a simple meal you bless a soul
When you share with the shivering, calm a trembling heart...
When you reach out in love, you are praying

When you pray for the needy you are serving
When you say a simple prayer you bless a soul
When you pray for God's wholeness and the presence of the Lord..
When you pray for the needy you are serving

When you teach of the Gospel you are learning
When you help others see you understand
When you plant holy seeds, something grows in you ...
You you teach of the Gospel you are learning

When you give of yourself you are gaining
When you chose to love more you bless a soul
When you give with out measure, heedless of the treasure ...
When you give of yourself you are gaining
