Miniscule
Lenten Writing Prompt #27
God created and knows each and every sparrow, each and every hair on your head, and each grain of sand. Write about something tiny today, to the glory of God.
One small exclamation. Three little words. And just the thing I need to hear. The smallest of encouragements to forget about the mistakes of the day before. Of the five minutes before.
The enthusiasm in the words are all that I need to remind me that yes, mom, sometimes - maybe even, often - you do the right thing. You do bring joy. You do know what your child needs. You do know what your child wants. You do listen. You are doing well.
The smile behind the words and the excitement in his eyes are all I need to remind me that yes, mom, your child is happy. Your child is fed. Your child is nourished in body and soul. Your child is satisfied. Your child is listening. Your child cares. Your child is doing well.
A small mark with one object upon another becomes a letter becomes a word, a sentence, a paragraph, a chapter, an article; A book that takes us into Worlds outside our small habitat where we broaden our knowledge, grow our understanding, and explode into far reaching possibilities, Ideas and Beliefs that we can Do anything and everything to Improve and expand all that is. Yet, as we bask in our glow of our New Achievements and Importance, Jesus brings us back to remember where we began, small innocent seeds of faith and stories.
"Oh, thank you!"

ReplyDeleteA small mark with one object upon another
becomes a letter
becomes a word, a sentence,
a paragraph, a chapter, an article;
A book that takes us into
Worlds outside our small habitat
where we broaden our knowledge,
grow our understanding,
and explode into far reaching possibilities,
Ideas and Beliefs that we can
Do anything and everything to
Improve and expand all that is.
Yet, as we bask in our glow of our
New Achievements and Importance,
Jesus brings us back to remember
where we began,
small innocent seeds of faith and stories.
