Sensing God in the Midst of Pain and Fear
Write about a time that you've been in intense pain and/or fear. How could you sense that God with you? Were you aware of it at the time or afterword? What was your experience?
Sensing God
ReplyDeleteSpring came , dear Lord, and broke my heart.
I couldn't see your rain
Until the gentle little drops
Ran down my windowpane.
I couldn't see your lilacs bloom
Just passing on the street.
I had to go up close , dear Lord,
But oh, they smelled so sweet.
I had to gather courage then,
To raise my anxious eyes
To see if summer stars still blaze
Across your endless skies.
This fall when golden poplars reach
Like fingers t'ward the blue.
And rabbit brush blooms far and wide,
Please help me reach for you.
When winter comes and nights are long,
If darkness comes to stay,
Then gather all my future springs
To show to me someday.

Oh Clarene, you bring tears to my eyes!
